Rush Hour Crash Closes RT 202

By Chief Peter Sondervan
October 31, 2008

The driver of an SUV traveling south on 202 said the cause of the accident was that his air bag deployed for no apparent reason. Witnesses said it looked like he just turned into the telephone pole. The impact of the crash sheared the pole at the base. The only thing that held the pole up was the wires that went across 202.
202 was closed for hours waiting for Orange and Rockland to repair the pole.
