| On Monday, October 7th, the members of the OVFD hosted an Open House for Fire Prevention week at Company 1.
Chief Peter Warnet, Assistant Chief Curt Le Roy and Ex-Chief Robert Knapp, Jr. awarded plaques to the winners of our annual Fire Prevention Poster contest to children from Dogwood Hill, Heights and Manito Elementary schools.
Members also talked to the children and adults about fire safety, they got a chance to use a fire hose to test their skills and go through Ringwood's smoke house and were treated to a demonstration on how the firemen put out a car fire.
The open house also featured members of the Oakland First Aid Squad and Oakland Police Department who talk to the participants about first aid and public safety.
And we would like to thank the members of our Ladies Auxiliary for serving refreshments to our guests.
We had a very large turnout for this open house over 100 people attending the event.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to come to the open hosue and learn some imporant messages about fire, first aid and public safety. |
