| For the second time in four years the Indian Hills Girls Softball team was crowned champions of Group 3 with an impressive 4-2 victory over Wall in Toms River. The Lady Braves were 32-3 on the season. The Indian Hills girl's team was also part of a duo of teams from Bergen County that won state titles yesterday marking the first time since 1994 that two Bergen County had two state softball champions.
Coach Joe Leicht and his team had an impressive year this season lead by eight seniors and pitcher Devon Durando. This team would not be denied its second championship in four years. All of the girls contributed mightily to this very impressive season, a number of whom have played together since the 4th grade.
It is becoming a custom where the emergency services groups from all three towns help lead a parade of champions through Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes and ending back at Indian Hills High School in Oakland.
The members of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, First Aid Squad and Oakland Police wish to thank the team and its coaches on a wonderful season and for representing our community with pride, grace and honor. |
