| The Bergen County Fire Academy hosted their inaugural Field Day Event. This competition tests the skills of fire fighters in three timed events. The three evolutions were Ladder & Tool Hoist, Victim Search and Command Relay. Each event is timed; go too fast or forget some details and penalties add to your time.
Your Oakland Fire Department took First place in ALL three events. The team was lead by Ex-Chief Pete Sondervan, backed up by Firefighters Ryan Sondervan, Brian Kelly, Matt Sorce and Mike Finn. We took home three first place trophies for each event and a trophy for first Place overall.
Special thanks to the Bergen County Fire Academy and their instructors for hosting the event. Also thank you to the Bergen County 200 Club for rewarding the Oakland Fire Department with a $2,500 grant for winning the whole event. |
