Monday nights's rescue drill focused on the skills needed to extricate trapped victims in a motor vehicle accident. The drill was attended not only by the Oakland FD, but the Oakland and Wyckoff First Aid Squads. The purpose of the excercise was to help develop communication and coordination among the responding agencies, as well as test the physical challenges encountered. The scenario was staged as a two car accident with a T-bone trapping the driver side door, a victim through the windshield, and two additional victims inside. Access was gained by cutting the right side doors off, and gaining entry through the rear door. Each victim was assessed, stablilized, and removed in an expedient manner.
