This Sunday, Oakland Volunteers including Firefighters, Ambulance Squad, OEM, Ladies Auxiliary, Trout Unlimited, and Cub Scouts pitched in to clean up the Ramapo River. Over time, storms, winds, and currents pile debris from upriver into coves and eddies along the banks. The debris ranges from pop bottles and old tires to large pieces of construction materials. The volunteers were split into groups, assigned a spot on the river and issued garbage bags and gloves. We applaud everyone for coming out and lending a hand, helping make Oakland and its river a more beautiful place.
