| At 14:47 hours Company 2 responded to 724 Arnold Drive, Franklin Lakes on a mutual aid request at a working structure fire. Franklin Lakes FD were on scene operating at a large 2.5 story brick residence with heavy smoke and fire in the basement and 1st and 2nd floors of the structure. FLFD Chief Bohny (330) requested a 2nd alarm assignment which brought in Oakland Engine 1032, Wyckoff Tower Ladder 241, Wyckoff Engine 233 and a Waldwick F.A.S.T. Team. Upon arrival of the Oakland units, FLFD Chief Bohny (330) requested 1032 hit the hydrant at the intersection of Ewing Avenue and Grandview Terrace for water supply. The crew of Engine 1032, under the command of Captain Warnet was then assigned to assist with fire suppression on the 2nd floor of the structure. OFD Chief Sondervan (1030) was assigned to secure the utilities. OFD Asst. Chief Kellett (1040) was assigned to assist crews from Franklin Lakes and Wyckoff in advancing hand lines into the basement. It would take several hours and a very aggressive attack, which saw a partial collapse of the first floor into the basement to bring the fire under control. Also dispatched to scene was the Oakland First Aid Squad (803) to assist with fire rehab. It was a great job by all and another example of how well the departments within the Northwest Bergen Mutual Aid work together.
