On Sunday, January 12th, the Oakland Fire Department was honored to see another member of our volunteer organization receive the highest honor in Boy Scouting by receiving his Eagle Scout badge.

Jonathan Stammer became only the 2nd member of the OVFD to earn the rank of Eagle Scout and is the 66th member of Oakland Boy Scout Troop 369 to receive this honor.

Jonathan’s project was done for the benefit of the Ramapo Baptist Church in Oakland. For his project, he built a vegetable garden, a play are for pre-school children, a basketball court for teenagers and assembled/stained picnic tables. Jonathan had to plan, manage and raise all of the funds needed to accomplish this project.

He is a member of our Junior Firefighter program and attends Indian Hills High School. His father Russell is also a firefighter and the department Chaplain.

The Department expresses its extreme gratitude to Jonathan for not only his dedication to Scouting and the community but to the Oakland Fire Department as well.
