It is with deep regret that the Wyckoff Fire Department announces the passing of 75 year member Bruce Scott who passed away on April 28th.

Bruce was truly an innovator and a visionary for the fire service and the depth of his experience and knowledge will truly be missed by not only the members of the Wyckoff Fire Department but also the members of the Northwest Bergen Mutual Aid Association.

Bruce was best known for his dynamic style of teaching and instruction he provided to members of the surrounding fire departments serving as one of the first instructors of firematics back in the 1950's before an established fire academy was built. Bruce instructed all members of Basic Firemanship and prepared them for what they may encounter.

In the years to come, Bruce became actively involved and instrumental in forming the Northwest Bergen Mutual Aid Association which today is comprised of sixteen agencies and is a very strong and active association for all of our surrounding fire departments. As part of this association, Bruce helped form the NORCON Desk (Northwest Control) which still today serves as the primary radio communications desk during any mutual aid fire incident.

The contributions of Bruce Scott are truly remarkable and the loss of his experience and knowledge will be irreplaceable. May he rest in peace, thank you for your serivce Bruce!

Pictured here was Bruce receiving the Dana Hannon Award for meritorious service in March of 2013 from Wyckoff Chief Graglia and Assistant Chief Brock as well as an award and recognition for his 75 years of dedicated service to the Wyckoff Fire Department.
