Oakland Exceeds Their Own Record

It surely was a long year for the Oakland Fire Department. The Deparmtent responded to it's usual amount of fire alarms at residences, gas leak emergencies, and a couple or more fires that where nothing out of the ordinary for a typical year. Though it would of been a typical year, if it hadn't of been for a couple of storms that the town endured, causing alot of destruction, not only in Oakland but throughout the coast. Hurricane Irene and the wicked early snow storm felt in mid fall created hundreds of emergency calls, non the less the Oakland Fire Department battled through like the other surrounding Fire Departments, to make their town safe. The town made it through those big storms, and as all does, life went on.
The Oakland Fire Deparment had numerous achievements this year.
New record set in Fire Calls 543 in 2011, beating the old record of 409 Fire Calls set back in 2007.
Oakland Fire Department won it's 4th consecutive North West Bergen Mutual Aid Field Day championship.
The Christening of the Rescue Truck 1042

All in all a very long year but a very productive and memorable year.
