| On Saturday 7/24/10 at 1255 hrs the Oakland Fire Department was dispatched to a 2 tractor trailer accident north on 287 just north of exit 58. Upon arrival Asst. Chief Curt Leroy (1050) called for a Haz-Mat team due to a large amount of fluids on the highway. Chief Knapp (1030) arrived 2nd followed by Rescue 1042, Engine 1034, Engine 1031 & Utility 1044. Mahwah Haz-Mat responded to the scene to secure the fluids spilled on the highway. One of the truck drivers suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by the Oakland First Aid Squad. OFAS provided a 2nd ambulance to stand by due to the extreme heat for the firefighters, police and the members of the State DOT. Oakland FD assisted Mahwah Haz-Mat contain the spilled fluids and secure the 2 trucks. All units cleared the highway at approximately 1400 hrs. |
