| Firefighter Joe F. Gallup met with the Second Grade students at Dogwood Hill School to discuss fire safety in the home. All of the students were very enthusiastic learning how to identify fire hazards. It's very important to practice fire safety by spotting dangerous situations in the home. Most fires start in the kitchen; never leave food on the stove or in the oven unattended. Keep pot handles facing inward and remove anything flammable away from the stove top burners. Make sure your family has an escape plan and a meeting place outside your home. Practice your plan once a month. Thank you Ms. Wood for allowing the Oakland Fire Department help teach the children about fire safety. Check your smoke detectors and replace the batteries, it's that time of year again! |
